British singer and actress Lily Allen has sparked fresh public discussion after revealing that she doesn’t remember the exact number of abortions she’s had.
Speaking candidly on her podcast Miss Me? with co-host Miquita Oliver, Allen reflected on her past experiences with contraception and pregnancy in a tone that was both casual and unapologetic.
“Abortions, I’ve had a few… I can’t remember exactly how many,” Allen said. “I want to say four or five.”
Before getting her current intrauterine device (IUD), the singer said she “used to get pregnant all the time.”
She recalled how one partner once paid for her abortion, a gesture she initially found romantic — until he stopped speaking to her afterwards.
But Allen’s remarks weren’t delivered in a confessional tone.
Instead, she used humour and frankness to dismantle taboos.
Her co-host, Oliver, also joined in with similar stories, noting that she had several abortions before choosing to get an IUD, only to eventually remove it for reasons she couldn’t recall.
Allen’s statements are part of a longer history of her being outspoken about reproductive rights. In 2022, after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, she took to social media to make her stance clear:
“Most people I know, myself included, just didn’t want to have a f—ing baby. And that is reason enough!”
