Sacked Texas doctor apologizes for insensitive flood comments

A Houston pediatrician who faced public backlash and professional consequences for suggesting that Texas flood victims “got what they voted for” has issued a formal apology, admitting her comments were deeply insensitive.

Dr. Christina Propst, who was fired by Blue Fish Pediatrics after her Facebook post went viral, expressed regret in a statement shared through her attorneys.

“I understand my comment caused immense pain to those suffering indescribable grief, and for that I am truly sorry,” she said. “This is a tragic time and my words were insensitive.”

The controversy began when Dr. Propst, under the name “Chris Tina,” posted on Facebook during the devastating floods in Texas: “Kerr County MAGA voted to gut FEMA.

They deny climate change. May they get what they voted for.”

The statement triggered widespread anger, especially as rescue and recovery efforts were still underway, with hundreds affected by the disaster.

In her apology, Dr. Propst explained that her frustration over climate inaction and emergency preparedness led to the now-deleted post.

“I did not choose my words with the sensitivity the moment required,” she said.

“I wrote the post before fully understanding the depth of the loss unfolding.”

Blue Fish Pediatrics quickly distanced itself from the remarks, announcing her dismissal and stating that her views “do not reflect the values or mission of the practice.”

The Texas Medical Board also indicated it would review any formal complaints lodged against the doctor, emphasizing the importance of professionalism in moments of crisis.

Dr. Propst concluded by acknowledging the emotional toll of her actions. “I take full responsibility,” she said.

“As a mother, a physician, and a member of this community, I failed to uphold the compassion I’ve always valued.”
