Highlife musician Fameye has opened up about his dissatisfaction with his own performance at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), citing technical malfunctions as the main reason behind what he described as a disappointing delivery.
The “Praise” hitmaker admitted that things didn’t go as planned on the night of the awards, despite his best efforts.
“My band told me we tried, but I don’t think it was that good. I had some setbacks, without which I could possibly have been the best performer of the night,” Fameye revealed in interview with Kwame Dadzie on Hitz FM.
According to him, a preset meant to introduce his set failed to play, which threw the entire performance into disarray right from the start.
“I had a preset that was supposed to have been played before the performance started,” he explained. “I wasn’t hearing anything… It eventually came to a point where I had to take off my in-ear microphone just to try and hear what was being played.”
The technical glitches, he noted, weren’t unique to his performance.
“It was due to technical issues. I’m sure if you give other artistes the mic, they would also share similar experiences,” he added, suggesting that more could have been done backstage to ensure smooth transitions for all performers.
