Wontumi TV has formally apologized to President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the general public following inappropriate comments made by one of its on-air presenters regarding the recent tragic military helicopter crash.

The management expressed regret over the remarks made by presenter Akyenkwaa Nana Kofi Asare on August 9, 2025, where he alleged that President Mahama had a hand in the helicopter crash — a claim the station firmly rejects.

The management clarified, “Comments made by our presenter… do not in any way represent the views, position, or policy of Wontumi TV.” They acknowledged that the statement was “inappropriate, unfounded, and contrary to our station’s values of professionalism, accuracy, and fairness in broadcasting.”

Wontumi TV admitted that these remarks were made without evidence and emphasized that such unverified accusations cause distress and damage reputations. The station said, “We deeply regret the distress and reputational harm this may have caused to the President, the NDC, and the affected families.”

To prevent future occurrences, Wontumi TV announced it would take disciplinary action against the presenter and had already reinforced editorial guidelines to ensure that all content shared on-air is backed by verified facts and credible sources.
