Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré has responded strongly to U.S. General Michael Langley’s accusations that he is a dictator using the nation’s wealth to protect himself.
In his speech, Traoré emphasized that the future of Burkina Faso depends on the willingness of its people to fight for their freedom.
“In this situation, there are only two choices,” Traoré stated, “Either we accept to fight, or we remain slaves forever.” His words underscored the gravity of the country’s current challenges and the stark reality of its situation.
The President went on to criticize those who, in his view, were mentally enslaved and incapable of thinking independently. “There are those who are slaves in their minds.
They can only serve their master,” he said. “These people try every time to manipulate you.”
Traoré also urged the people of Burkina Faso to unite and not let external negativity sway their determination.
“You must advise each other because every situation can be exploited by the enemies of the nation to try to discourage you, to demotivate you,” he continued. “Do not pay attention to certain remarks, even on some media.”
Highlighting the importance of patriotism, Traoré reminded his citizens that true patriots are those who actively choose to defend their homeland.
“You are the first patriots,” he affirmed. “There is nothing better than that.”
In a direct challenge to detractors, Traoré encouraged his people to stay focused on their mission. “Those who want to support you, let them support you. Those who want to discourage you through writings, you must close your ears and move forward.”
