The Ashanti Region has been left shaken after a tragic clash in Nyinahin, which resulted in one civilian’s death and three others suffering injuries.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for justice. In a stern response, the Ashanti Regional Police Command, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, has vowed to take every necessary step to bring those responsible to justice.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with JoyNews, DCOP Teye-Cudjoe stated, “We will do everything in our power to bring the perpetrators to justice. Apart from ensuring that justice is served, with the collaboration of the military, we will make sure we bring the culprit to book.”
He emphasized that the individual responsible for the shooting, an alleged military personnel, would be apprehended and made to face the full force of the law.
“He is an individual who committed this criminal act, and we will fish him out. We want to assure the people of Nyinahin that we will go all out and make sure that justice is served,” he added.
The deadly incident, which occurred earlier this week, involved a fatal confrontation between civilians and military personnel in Nyinahin.
The violence led to the tragic death of one civilian, and three others sustained various injuries. Victims who were injured during the clash have since shared their harrowing experiences.
Speaking to JoyNews correspondent Nana Boakye Yiadom, one of the victims recounted the pain and trauma caused by the attack.
“I got hurt on my hands, and the little money I had, I used to treat myself, so I don’t have any money left. Any help the government or police could offer would be appreciated,” the victim said, highlighting the financial strain caused by the incident.
DCOP Teye-Cudjoe visited the community in the wake of the clash, where he addressed the situation and reassured the residents that the police would leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice. He described the shooting as a criminal act that would not be tolerated.
“We will do everything in our power to bring the perpetrators to justice,” he reiterated, adding that the full cooperation of the military would be sought in ensuring that the suspect is caught and held accountable.
