Ghana’s Independence Day celebrations took a different turn at the East Legon Executives Club yesterday, and one moment in particular has the internet talking.
The club hosted its annual 6th March Community Games on its home astroturf, bringing together teams from GLICO Insurance, the Accra Friendship Club, the East Legon Executives Club, and several other sides for a day of football, competition, and pure entertainment.
The event attracted a star-studded crowd, business moguls, politicians, and football personalities, all turning out to celebrate Ghana at 69 with a ball at their feet.
But the moment that has dominated social media is a video of prominent Ghanaian businessman Dr. Ofori Sarpong rising above the opposition and connecting with a powerful header in his side’s match against the Accra Friendship Club.
Defending with the kind of commitment that suggests the man takes his football very seriously indeed.
