Akosua Serwaa, the first wife of Daddy Lumba, has appealed the judgment that declared Odo Broni also as a wife of the late Daddy Lumba and is asking the Court of Appeal to set aside that ruling and declare her as the only surviving wife of the late musician.
Although the late musician has been buried and still remains dead, Akosua Serwaa cannot bear the thought that she will be seen as one of the wives of the legendary musician in history books and is doing everything in her power to change that.
In court documents for her appeal sighted by Ghbase News, Akosua Serwaa says she’s aggrieved and dissatisfied with the judgment of the High court in Kumasi which was delivered by Her Ladyship Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur.
Parts of it reads;
“PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Plaintiff/Appellant herein being aggrieved and dissatisfied with the Judgment of the High Court, Kumasi more particularly stated herein and contained in the Judgment of His Ladyship Justice DORINDA SMITH ARTHUR sitting at the High Court, Kumasi and dated on the 28th day of November, 2025 DO HEREBY APPEAL to the Court of Appeal against the decision upon the grounds set out in paragraph 3 and will at the hearing of the Appeal seek the reliefs set out in paragraph 4,”
Akosua Serwaa who failed to be present at the final funeral rites of the man she’s claiming to be recognised as her only wife because she felt, she couldn’t be in the same space as Odo Broni, who was declared as a co-wife of the musician also believes that, the High Court erred when it held that the marriage Certificate exhibits she presented was not admissible.
“The High Court erred when it held that the Marriage Certificate exhibit “B”, “B1″ and ‘B2’ was not admissible per se. The Court erred when it held that Section 161 of the Evidence Act is a condition precedent for putting weight on an admitted document. The Court erred when it held that the evidence adduced by the defendants was more credible than that of the evidence of the complainant.”- parts of her suit read.
Akosua Serwaa is asking that the whole judgment be set aside.
“That the whole Judgment of the High Court, be set aside and judgment entered in favour of the Plaintiff.”
Involved in the suit are; Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu Abuakwa- Kumasi, Priscilla Ofori a.k.a Odo Broni- Accra and Transitions Funeral Home a.k.a Enterprise Funeral Services Haatso Accra.
With Akosua Serwaa now in Ghana, it now makes sense why she’s here after the funeral. She’s on a desperate move to be seen as the only wife, so that in the event the will is read and she does not get the properties she wants, she can sue again.
