I won’t apologise to Stonebwoy today or tomorrow – King Promise’s PRO Tilly Akua Nipaa declares amid awards debate

In a previous clash, King Promise’s publicist, Tilly Akua Nipaa, firmly stated she will never apologize to dancehall heavyweight Stonebwoy, neither “today nor tomorrow.”

The heated exchange took place on April 18, 2025, during a panel discussion with Stonebwoy’s PRO, Vida Adutwumwaa. The two PR representatives locked horns over recent criticisms surrounding the nomination choices for this year’s music awards.

Tilly, speaking with bold conviction, argued that Stonebwoy’s recent achievements over the past year did not, in her view, warrant a top nomination spot.

“Despite his international collaborations, I don’t think he has made the kind of impact that should guarantee him such a top spot in this year’s awards,” she said, referencing data she claimed to have at hand.

But Vida did not let it slide. She pushed back sharply, stating, “In your argument, you suggested that Stonebwoy is regressing by comparing his performance metrics from previous years to this year.

However, I challenge you to apply the same scrutiny to King Promise: his figures from the previous year to now have not shown noteworthy growth either. Does that imply that he too is regressing?”

Since the exchange aired, a storm of reactions has swept through the industry, with several pundits accusing Tilly of crossing the line—especially with her remarks downplaying Stonebwoy’s international features as making little to no industry headway.

But Tilly is not backing down. Responding to the backlash, she clarified her position in an interview on Kessben TV monired by Ghbase News, insisting her comments were based purely on data and not meant as a personal attack.

“I never disrespected Stonebwoy as is being portrayed,” she said. “My points were premised on empirical data I presented during the argument, and I still stand by it.”
