Ghbase News Exclusive – The tension between Daddy Lumba’s family and his wife, Akosua Serwaa, on one side and Odo Broni on the other has reignited a long-standing speculation about the late musician Anokye Supremo, formerly known as Daddy Lumba Junior.
Many Ghanaians recall the uncanny resemblance between Anokye and Lumba, so striking that it once fueled rumours suggesting the younger artist was Lumba’s biological son.
Now, with fresh revelations that Daddy Lumba may have fathered as many as seventeen children with different women, Ghbase News is questioning whether the late Anokye Supremo could indeed have been one of them.
The story dates back to 2018, when Anokye, a talented highlife musician who built his early career on emulating Lumba, was dragged to court for impersonation.

The case was filed by Daddy Lumba himself, who accused the young artist of using his image and name to gain favours from fans and benefactors.
According to court documents, Lumba alleged that Anokye had “claimed to be his son” and “impersonated him to receive gifts.”
The veteran musician maintained that the name “Daddy Lumba” was an exclusive brand identifier in Ghana’s music industry and that Anokye’s actions had caused confusion and damaged his reputation.
Before the suit, Anokye was popularly known as “Daddy Lumba Junior,” a name he had adopted after gaining recognition for mimicking the music legend on TV Africa’s reality show Just Like You. His physical resemblance and vocal similarity to Lumba helped him attract a loyal following.
However, after the legal tussle began, Anokye publicly announced that he was rebranding. “I have now chosen Kwame Supremo,” he told Citi FM in 2018.
“I think it also portrays my brand, and since I don’t want to have issues with Daddy, I have decided to drop DL Junior for this.”
At the time, Anokye was hopeful the move would calm tensions. His social media pages reflected the new identity, marking a clean break from the controversy.
Despite his efforts to reconcile, reports indicated that the lawsuit remained pending in court, even after Anokye, through music industry elders, sent a delegation to plead with Daddy Lumba for forgiveness.
Anokye Supremo, who passed away in 2019 after undergoing brain surgery in India, left behind several notable songs including Befa Me, Nefri Nea Efire, Hye Wo Ho Den, and Krom Aye De.
