President Traoré, I’m praying for you: A Jamaican sister’s message of hope and solidarity

In a raw and touching message that has struck a chord across social media, a Jamaican woman has poured out her heart in support of Burkina Faso’s President, Ibrahim Traoré.

With deep conviction in her voice, she declared:”President Traoré, I am from Jamaica and I am praying for you come the 30th.”

She might be miles away from the Sahel, but her spirit is firmly aligned with the movement of Pan-African hope that Traoré has come to represent. For her, this isn’t just about politics. It’s about purpose.

“I don’t know if they’re going to march in Jamaica,” she continued, “but if they’re going to march, I’m going to march. But if they’re not going to march, I’m going to spend the whole day on my knees… praying, begging God to cover you.”

It’s not every day you hear that kind of commitment — someone choosing prayer as their weapon of choice, standing in the gap for a leader they believe is fighting for the people.

And she didn’t mince words when reflecting on past African heroes: “When I was small, I remember Gaddafi but I never felt it that much… because at the end of the day, he was living in luxury. But you’re not living in luxury. You are for the people.”

Her admiration for Traoré is grounded in his humility, his youth, and most importantly, his unwavering dedication to the people of Burkina Faso.

As her message drew to a close, she offered a powerful covering over the young revolutionary: “I’m going to pray you up, young man, in covering. Stay covered in Jesus’ name.”
