Roey Gilad has firmly defended his country’s military response to Iran, describing the Islamic Republic as a persistent and now more dangerous threat due to its advancing nuclear and missile capabilities.

The Ambassador of Israel to Ghana said Israel’s recent strikes on Iranian targets were not acts of aggression, but a matter of survival during an interview on Joy News’ PM Express.

“It’s two things. It’s the nuclear threat. And it’s the missile threat. The ability and the will together—that’s the danger,” he stated.

Gilad emphasized that Iran’s hostile posture toward Israel has been consistent since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, but recent developments have made the threat more urgent.

“We are not playing games. We are fighting for survival. If you know your enemy wants to destroy you and is getting closer to doing so, you do not wait for the final blow,” he asserted.

The latest war reportedly when Iran launched a barrage of drones and missiles at Israel in retaliation for an airstrike in Syria that killed two high-ranking Iranian Revolutionary Guard commanders.

In response, Israel launched a wave of targeted air raids on Iranian nuclear facilities, missile depots, and military infrastructure across several provinces, including Tehran and Isfahan.

Ambassador Gilad made it clear that Israel views Iran not just as a geopolitical rival, but an existential threat.

He cited Iran’s advanced uranium enrichment—reportedly capable of producing nuclear weapons—and its stockpile of thousands of ballistic missiles, a significant number of which have already been used in this latest confrontation.
