Ace Ghanaian journalist and Metro TV news anchor Bridget Otoo has called Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo a dictator on social media.
In a trending post shared on Twitter now known as X, Bridget mentioned that the fear of being victimized has kept many institutions silent in the face of the difficulties they are facing under the present administration led by Nana Akufo-Addo.
Bridget’s comment is in response to the Tema General Hospital’s assertion that a recent power outage did not result in any death, contrary to news of babies dying at the health facility over dumsor (power outage).
She said in a tweet on X that “Every institution is afraid of this spineless lying government because of their vindictiveness. They should be afraid of the peoples “deafening silence” We are not in a military era even though @NAkufoAddo has proven to be one dictator.
In a separate post, she said: “That a hospital is afraid to admit that a baby died as a results of Dumsor. An account a doctor shared with the mother of the child.. Your life doesn’t matter to this government!!!! #ReleaseDumsorTimetable“.

Tema General Hospital MD says nobody died
In the meantime, as stated in a press release on Wednesday, March 27, the Tema General Hospital has denied the claims of any death during the power outage on Tuesday, March 26.
The hospital asked the public to ignore the wild speculations as captured in a trending video, dismissing them as baseless in the strongest possible terms.
See full statement below:
“The Tema General Hospital’s attention has been drawn to a video circulating on social media which is reported to have occurred at the Facility. The facts are as follows:
1. The incident happened on Tuesday, 26th March, 2024 when the power from the national grid was interrupted and the Facility was relying on its power plant.
2. The dedicated generator set to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) tripped off for a short period and the hospital’s electricians worked to restore power to the Unit until the national grid was restored.
3. It must be emphasized that power was restored within two hours by the electricians at the Facility.
4. It is worth noting that no lives were lost as a result of this power outage.
5. The Tema General Hospital assures the general public that the Facility will continue to put the health and safety of its patients at the core of its business.”
