Independent US presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr has made a startling revelation. In 2012, he disclosed that a worm had eaten a part of his brain during a deposition in his divorce proceedings from his second wife Mary Richardson Kennedy.
This revelation came after Mr. Kennedy experienced cognitive issues, including memory loss and mental fogginess, in 2010. Concerned about his condition, he sought the expertise of neurologists who discovered a dark spot on his brain scans.
Initially, they believed it to be a tumour, but another doctor had a different interpretation. This doctor suggested that Mr. Kennedy had a deceased parasite residing in his head.
The New York Times reported that during the 2012 interview, Mr. Kennedy stated that the medical professional believed the abnormality “was caused by a worm that got into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died.”
In addition to this shocking revelation, Mr. Kennedy also disclosed that he had been diagnosed with mercury poisoning.
It is worth noting that Mr Kennedy is the son of former US Attorney General and ex-senator Robert F Kennedy, as well as the nephew of former US President John F Kennedy and ex-senator Ted Kennedy.
He said: “I have cognitive problems. I have short-term memory loss, and I have longer-term memory loss that affects me.”
He informed The New York Times that he was confident the mercury poisoning was a result of his diet, which consisted of a significant amount of tuna. The NHS states that tuna has elevated levels of mercury compared to other types of fish.
Environmental lawyer and anti-vaccine activist Mr Kennedy, who is also known by his initials RFK Jr, told the publication: “I loved tuna fish sandwiches. I ate them all the time.”
According to the chemist interviewed by the publication, the mercury levels mentioned by Mr. Kennedy were elevated, although not unexpected for an individual consuming that amount and type of seafood.
Mr Kennedy said he made changes after the health scares, including getting more sleep and cutting down on his fish intake.
