TNT Sports pundit, Rio Ferdinand has said that Harry Kane has been let down by others this season, as the Bavarians will now end the season without a trophy.
The Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane will have to wait a little longer for a first major trophy after Real Madrid denied him and Bayern a UEFA Champions League final ticket after they succumbed to a 2-1 loss at the Bernabeu on Wednesday evening.
Harry Kane left Tottenham to join Bayern last summer with the desire to win silverware, but the Bavarians lost out on the Bundesliga title, a title they had won 11 times prior to the 2023-2024 league season.
The Bavarians also lost out on the domestic cup as they got eliminated early on in the competition.
The Bavarians had hoped that their only chance of silverware this season would be taken, but after drawing 2-2 in the first leg of their semi-final encounter with Real Madrid, they lost the second leg 2-1, and are out of the competition by an aggregate score of 4-3.
Bayern Munich scored first, but a mistake by Manuel Neuer gave Madrid their equalizer. They went on to score their second in added time, and despite the Bavarians feeling hard done by as they felt a legitimate goal was ruled out for offside, Real Madrid made the final at their expense.
On punditry duty for TNT Sports, Rio Ferdinand, a former England international, said Kane has done well since his move to Munich, and did what he was bought to do–score goals.
“He’s done his job, he’s scored the goals, he’s done what he’s paid to do,” Ferdinand said. “They bought him for a particular reason [and] that’s to score goals but also to continue winning trophies.”
Harry Kane has scored 44 goals for Bayern. That is remarkable. On the striker having to wait further for a first senior career trophy, Rio Ferdinand said the striker has been let down.
