Kanye West is mired in a fresh legal battle after a former staff filed a lawsuit accusing him of discriminatory behavior among black Donda Academy employees.
Benjamin Deshon Provo, a security guard at the institution since 2021, claims that Kanye West often belittled and abused black personnel, eventually firing him for refusing to shave his dreadlocks.
According to the Los Angeles lawsuit, Kanye West’s actions, including demands that staff members shave their heads, reportedly caused Provo, his ex-staff substantial emotional distress.
Provo disclosed that he refused to comply with the request due to his Muslim faith.
Additionally, the lawsuit claims that although black employees did not receive a pay rise of $5 per hour, white staff members did.
Provo further asserts that Kanye West forbade the teaching of literature about Black history and culture at Donda Academy, including works that feature well-known individuals like Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.
In addition to other accusations, Provo is seeking compensation for alleged discrimination, a hostile work environment, retaliation, and violations of the labor code.
This is not the only legal battle Kanye finds himself in. Recall that a few months earlier, an autograph seeker sued Kanye West for assault and violence.
The autograph seeker claimed that the incident happened in Downtown Los Angeles in 2022, according to TMZ.
The man claimed he sought an apology from the artist, to which he responded, “Apology for what?” before allegedly punching him many times and seriously hurting him.
When one of the people who was with Kanye attempted to settle up the fight, he allegedly said, “Go to the fuck****g house and get my fu***g kids.”
He analyzed Kanye’s punch to his face following his yell, “I’m going to make a f***g example of you.”
The man claims that the assault upset him emotionally and is requesting damages.
His wife is suing Kanye West for loss of consortium, claiming she lost her husband’s business as a result of the event.
