Stephanie Benson has shared her advice on TikTok, cautioning women against falling for the words ‘I love you’ from men that could lead to toxic relationships.
Years before she got married, the Jazz singer recounted her personal experience of falling for a young man in London while staying with her uncle.
Stephanie said despite warnings from her cousins about the seven-year age gap, Stephanie was deeply in love and ignored their advice.
She further revealed that during their three-year relationship, she and her boyfriend never became intimate, although they were affectionate.
However, things took a turn when his parents demanded he return to Ghana.
Devastated by the sudden separation, Stephanie said she had to let him go, believing they would be together in the UK later.
However, just two months later, she discovered he was dating someone else, despite his denials and continued professions of love to her.
Stephanie Benson shared the video alongside the caption;
I was a teenager in love, with a Ghanaian man. I’m glad he only stole my heart and nothing else. Don’t give yourself too easily to anyone who says they love you. Don’t fall for the lies. I just want you to know, there’s always a good man out there for you, don’t stick around for the bad ones.
