Oboy Siki has shared his thoughts on the much-awaited Ghanaian film, A County Called Ghana, directed by Fiifi Gharbin and produced by Lilwin.
Oboy Siki claims that the film is not nice and won’t do well in theaters.
Even though the film has not yet been released, Oboy Siki says he has seen the trailer and feels that, even with the inclusion of seasoned actors from Nigeria led by Ramsey Nouah, the film falls short of expectations.
Siki made a vicious assault on director Fiifi Gharbin during his interview on Angel FM, calling him a foolish director and casting doubt on his abilities.
Siki feels that for a high-end production like this, Lilwin ought to have selected a more accomplished director instead of someone he so strongly disagrees with, like Fiifi.
Siki concluded by saying that the film is not deserving of the praise it is getting and that he will not be watching the finished version when it comes out.
It’s still unclear if his outburst was a sincere attempt to voice his views or a calculated ploy by him and Lilwin to promote the movie.
Kwadwo Sheldon and Lilwin clash over A Country Called Ghana movie
As previously mentioned, the film has not been premiered yet, but Ghanaians have criticized both the movie and the actors involved in the project.
Some have expressed scepticism about the movie’s success upon its official release.
Similarly, YouTuber Kwadwo Sheldon clashed with Lilwin on the same topic after criticizing the movie.
During a podcast, Sheldon and his guest Scanty commented on the trailer of the movie they saw, specifically pointing out the poor video colour grading.
In response to the criticisms from the content creator and his mentee, LilWin launched a counterattack in a video shared by EDHUB on X.
He argued that Kwadwo Sheldon should have reserved judgment until after the movie premiered, rather than passing criticism based solely on the trailer.
“Kwadwo Sheldon, after spending millions of dollars on my movie, you’ve decided to criticize the movie rather than inspire me or laud me for what I’ve done. I do not know what you guys think when you compare Ghana’s locations to the Americans who shoot movies in their rooms.
“Do you know the number of politicians and MPs who have called to congratulate me and motivate me to come up with more projects?
But you decided to criticize it. Which movie have you sat down to analyze and conclude that it is better than ‘A Country Called Ghana’?
You should keep quiet if you can’t promote someone’s movie. Be very careful. Do not provoke me. I’ll be back,” he said.
Meanwhile, A Country Called Ghana is set to premiere on May 17, 2024.
