Veteran Ghanaian singer Bessa Simons has advised young artistes to produce timeless songs, arguing that what they do lately is nothing to write home about.
Bessa said the current crop of musicians should take a second look at their lyrical compositions and write songs that sound like they were produced by veterans like himself.
In his words, every musician ought to have at least one sensible song that forever aligns with their brand.
Bessa Simons however clarified that although some of the musicians today are making good music, some of them stray and write thrashy songs to momentarily satisfy their consumers.
Simons, who happens to be the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) President, also mentioned that Nana Acheampong, Daddy Lumba, and Amakye Dede are just a few of the legendary artistes who have timeless tunes that the younger generation still enjoys.
He then suggested that aspiring musicians release one decent song during their career, at the Kofi Kinaata EP Listening.
He said “This is super and like I always say to the young ones, in your lifetime you have to write one sensible song. But you always give us sensible songs.
What I’m so moved by is the element of highlife in the music. You can tell you are coming from a place where you have an authentic kind of rhythm and where we do the rhythm,” he said.
